We are Suspension Coffee. We started as a small specialty roastery and espresso bar — Suspension Espresso — in 2003 in Newcastle, Australia. We have spent the last twenty years roasting in Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, and Sydney. The espresso bar has since been sold, and we are now living and roasting in Marrickville. We are a small batch roastery, roasting on a Diedrich IR12. We run unique profiles developed to maximise richness of flavour. Our coffees are all selected and roasted for excellent body, mouthfeel and crema. We are primarily espresso roasters, however our coffee tastes excellent when prepared by other methods. We do most of our taste testing on an espresso machine, pouring short black shots. We sell numerous single origin coffees as well as blends, a fair balance of regional and estate coffees, and some organic and fair trade beans. We are a family-run business. Our daughter Indigo fronts sales & marketing, our son Raiden roasts the coffee, and Abraham runs his own café Abe's Coffee Supply in Leichhardt. All in all, we are passionate and authentic and we feel our coffee reflects that.

The stalwart base of many of our blends, this full-bodied beauty hails from the highlands of Papua New Guinea. Like most PNG coffees, this bean is subsistence farmed from rural communities on small-holdings, and is an uncertified organic. With a rich and syrupy body, Kongi Gold starts off with a rounded orange and berry acidity, giving way to a cocoa, molasses finish. Named Kongi Gold after a typo on an early order of green beans, the name has stuck as well as its flavour profile has among our regular customers. CURRENT RRP: 250g - $16.50 500g - $32 1kg - $60
