The story begins in a small outlet based in Cheltenham back in 1995 by a small group of bakers. After much progress Eduardo Rato decided to purchase Jurgens Swiss Bakery in 2003 and currently operates it as a family owned business. Mr Rato has 40 years of extensive business experience, having previously owned Bernard’s Bakery and also Tiago Poultry.

Each product is made lovingly by hand every day using the techniques and secrets handed down from our founder, Emil Schwob. Baking today from our base in Torquay Victoria, our leaven originates from the founders John & Jan who created it back in 1981 at Wholefoods Café in Geelong.
