We are excited to share our first release from Indonesia!

The Koerintji Barokah Bersama Cooperative is nestled on the plateau at Mount Kerinci’s base in Sumatra, a region abundant with fertile volcanic soil from the active Mount Kerinci volcano. The 320 cooperative farms average 0.5 to 2.5 hectares, primarily growing coffee alongside vegetables, potatoes, and fruit. Through the cooperative organization farmers have been empowered to secure better prices, access resources, and training.

During harvest, coffee is handpicked and delivered to a collection centre where it is transferred to a small washing station.  This Natural lot has undergone meticulous processing. After floating and density sorting, ripe cherries are sealed in airtight bags for 7 days, then dried on raised beds within protective domes for 20 to 23 days. The dried coffee is milled and hand-sorted before farmers receive fair prices for their cherries, with co-op profits reinvested for quality improvement and shared with producers, who also receive technical support and shade tree seedlings.

We first tasted this coffee during our 2023 origin trip to Costa Rica. Grown in the Tres Rios region, these red bourbon cherries underwent anaerobic fermentation with Mossto (coffee cherry juice) for 72 hours, followed by drying over 18 days on African beds then a final 3-hour drying phase in mechanical dryers. The result is something quite special. This cup shone on the cupping table, with deep red berry characteristics. Another memorable cup from The Santuario Project, we are very happy to be roasting it for filter and espresso.

Located in the town of Pitalito within the well-known coffee-growing region of Huila, you’ll find the Asobombo cooperative. Founded by Luis Alfredo Diaz, the cooperative comprises over 80 members, each managing 3-5 hectares of land. The members combine their harvests to secure the best prices for their certified organic coffee.  This pink bourbon variety has been hand-picked, pulped, and then tank-fermented for 12-36 hours, with the parchment then transferred to raised beds for drying.

We've chosen this coffee for its stand-out quality and pink bourbon varietal.  If you fondly recall our past Colombian single origins, we're confident that you'll equally enjoy this very satisfying cup. Clean, crisp and elegant.
