BYO Foods was co-founded by Charmaine Ooi and her business partner Ricky Chau, and is built on the premise that venues should be able to put their name and brand on the drinks they serve.
Being able to do this is a key factor in helping venues build their brand. Aftera ll, hospitality operators invest so much into their space, their team, and their customer experience. It follows that they should be promoting their own brand - not the brand of another company.

We spoke to Charmaine about why product quality, local organic ingredients, and fast, flexible service are non-negotiables for BYO, and how Ordermentum is helping them streamline logistics so that they can scale in a sustainable way.

Why did you first start using Ordermentum?
We started on OM about five years ago. Before that we manually were pulling each line item out of Xero, and it was so time-consuming.
We wanted to make ordering really simple for our customers, and initially, we were going to create our own app. I’m so glad we didn’t because of the cost, and the thought required for UX and UI.
Ordermentum was the simple solution that gave our customers an app and a one-stop-shop.
How has the Digital Catalogue helped you?
The Digital Catalogue lets us segment different states. We have different lead times depending on location, so the custom visibility feature of the Digital Catalogue is super useful.

How have Sign Up Links helped you?
When you have a customer filling out a long credit application, they may give up, so Sign Up Links have been great for us because they completely streamline the sales process.
Our team can simple shoot prospects a link, and we also add the link to promotional materials. This means prospects get a better chance of seeing your full catalogue which leaves a much fuller impression in their mind.
What has your experience been with Ordermentum payments?
My co-founder Ricky already had deep experience within distribution and knew that chasing invoices and calling people when they hadn’t paid was something he really didn’t want to do - it’s way too much time and effort.
If we didn’t have Payments, then we’d have two full-timers to do accounting, invoicing, and reconciliation, but now we only need someone to do this for half a day.
Do you integrate with any other systems/programs and how does that help you?
At the moment we integrate with Xero, which helps us with ordering and invoicing and makes bulk reconciliations super easy.
If we didn’t have Xero Sync, we’d be doing so much manual data entry, data would be so much harder to track…our whole workflow would be harder.
How do you find our support?
The support team is always so quick to respond and I feel like our problems get resolved really fast.
What has your experience been with Growth Engine?
We rely on Growth Engine for leads. It's essentially the database of a market that we want to target, and it gives us an opportunity to have those important conversations with people who could become long-term customers.
It’s allowed us to become less reliant on ads, and we’ve become more selective and intentional about who we are bringing on board.

How does the Insights features help your business?
The Insights features give us a clear picture of how our business is performing.
The maps make it easy to see where our customers are located, while metrics like average order value and the number of customers per month help us track growth and engagement.
We can also see the percentage of customers paying through Ordermentum compared to other methods. And we can see which customers are ordering themselves versus those we put through manually, which highlights where we need to build more efficiency.
What is the venue experience like with you on Ordermentum?
They just see it as the norm - it’s expected! It’s seamless for them. They’re always happy.
What would you say to another supplier considering Ordermentum?
What I love is how Ordermentum has grown with us. That growth mindset around what matters to us and our customers has been there since the beginning.
We love that features we request are taken seriously and don’t take years to develop. You really can’t say the same for so many business partners, and we love this aspect of being on Ordermentum.
