Chris Maybury built Beta around one idea: let automation handle the coffee, so people can focus on connection.
"I wanted robots to do robot things and humans to do human things. I love crafting individual cups, the espressos, the pourovers by hand, but I had no time to. So I wanted the robots to do all the pumping, so I could have all the time in the world to talk to customers and connect."
That philosophy paid off. Seven or eight months in, Beta was ranked 13th-best coffee shop in the world, and sales doubled almost overnight.

Running a venue that scaled that fast, sourcing coffee from all over the world, working with a long list of suppliers, keeping stock moving through a much busier line…it all meant Chris needed his ordering to be just as frictionless as his front-of-house philosophy.

"I think especially with someone who works with multiple suppliers, to have an all-in-one thing is great. For all the national roasters that we use, which is a list of at least 20, they're all just right there."
